Local Anesthesia & Sedation
When there are more invasive procedures, or if you feel anxious, you can undergo local anesthesia or sedation.
Local anesthesia is typically administered through an injection and it works by temporarily blocking nerve impulses in a specific area of the body.
Sedation involves the use of medication to induce a state of relaxation and reduce anxiety during dental procedures. It can range from minimal sedation (awake but relaxed) to deep sedation (almost unconscious).
Here at NOVO we’ve got two types: Nitrous Oxide, also known as "laughing gas”. It’s inhaled through a mask placed over the nose. It induces a relaxed state and wears off quickly after the procedure.
Or Oral Sedation: Patients take a prescribed sedative pill by mouth before the procedure. Oral sedatives can range from mild to moderate.
Both local anesthesia and sedation are valuable tools in dentistry for ensuring patient comfort and safety during dental procedures. Patients should discuss their preferences and concerns with their dentist to determine the most appropriate anesthesia option for their needs.
